WEnvision: Videos for Seniors and Visually-Impaired
During the pandemic, visually impaired populations and seniors are usually very vulnerable to emotional stress and challenges. They may experience loneliness due to the lack of support and companionship. AOC aims to support the vulnerable populations in our local communities, as we have done with the essential workers videos and senior home letters previously; therefore, we want to continue the tradition and have decided to initiate the WEnvision project to address this particular issue. We gathered students from across Canada and internationally (various districts including West Vancouver, Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Saskatchewan, and Chile) to film short, three to five minute videos, where we talk about our daily experiences and share our thoughts with them, as well as offering some encouraging words to cheer them up. After collecting the videos, we organized them and delivered them to local senior homes and charities for visually-impaired populations. Through this initiative, we hope to provide more inclusivity and support for the vulnerable populations in our local communities, promoting harmony and well-being for all.
