Who we are
Adopt Our Community is a student-led non-profit organization consisting of passionate student volunteers from British Columbia and Saskatchewan. Our districts in British Columbia include Nanaimo, Richmond, Tri-Cities, Burnaby, Vancouver, and West Vancouver. We come together due to our shared gratitude for the cities we call home and our desire to contribute to our world. We are committed to serving our communities regularly and providing our members with volunteer opportunities through a system organized by individual high schools and districts.

Executive Directors
Joy Fan President
Joy Fan is a Grade 12 student attending Lord Byng Secondary School in Vancouver. She is honoured to serve as the President for AOC this year for 2024-2025. Served as the Vancouver District Director in grade 10 and 11, she is ready to take on her previous experiences to further expand AOC and make community contributions. Joy has also founded a AOC club at her school, donating over $1000 worth of classroom supplies. Outside of school, she loves to socialize, read and dance, and expand on her puzzle wall. Through her participation in AOC, Joy hopes to better the community, spread kindness and raise the power of youth voice.
Nathan Yin Vice President
Nathan Yin is an incoming Grade 12 student from Richmond Christian Secondary School in Richmond, BC. He is not only the current co-executive of the student council in his school, but also the co-founder. While at school, Nathan discovered that the student body had little to no say in the school’s decisions. To address this problem, Nathan helped increase student representation in his school through the creation of a new association: the student council. He is also the captain of his school’s cross country team, leading them in warm-ups and practice runs, and the running club leader. Nathan has tons of ideas for AOC this year and is ecstatic to help lead districts as the Vice President for the 2024-2025 year!
Richard Qin ​Vice President
Hi everyone, my name is Richard Qin. I go to Lord Byng secondary and I am currently in grade 12. I will be serving as your vice president for this year. I want to achieve the goal of making more impact on the community that we all share. Some of my hobbies are playing golf, badminton and tennis. It is a pleasure to work with AOC for this year.
Yihang Li ​Vice President
Currently a grade 11 student at Dover Bay Secondary School, Yihang Li is honoured to be serving as the VP of AOC. Ever since joining the organization four years ago, she has deeply admired the way Adopt Our Community brings youth together to create positive change in the lives of those around them. Beyond school, Yihang can be found enjoying long strolls at the beach, exploring the latest scientific breakthroughs, and practicing her table tennis skills. She hopes to reach a broader audience with AOC’s website and anticipates working with fellow members to make an impact!
Lawrence Luo Vice President
Lawrence Luo is a grade 11 student from Port Moody Secondary School in Port Moody, BC. This will be his 2nd year in Adopt Our Community club and he is very excited to serve as the District Leader for the tri-cities. In his free time, Lawrence enjoys playing piano, watching movies, running, and more. Lawrence is looking forward to making an impact on the world with AOC.
Daniel Wu ​Vice President
Daniel is a Grade 11 student at Mulgrave School in West Vancouver, BC. Outside of school, Daniel loves walking his dog, reading, and playing basketball. He loves talking to strangers and interacting with new people, and especially enjoys going on long walks or hikes and appreciating the beauty of West Vancouver. Additionally, Daniel loves to give back to his community by hosting and contributing to various events to foster community spirit. Daniel hopes to pass this positive energy along to anyone interested in joining AOC!
Alex Jin Human Resources Director
Alex Jin is a Grade 11 student from Southridge School in Surrey, BC. He is honored and excited to serve as the Human Resources Director and Director for Surrey District this year. As an executive of AOC, he hopes to positively impact the community and give all members a rewarding experience. In his spare time, Alex enjoys solving math problems and programming software, as well as doing debate and playing chess competitively. He hopes to make a lasting impact with an organization as big as AOC and foster personal and community growth.
